One Story is a literary magazine that contains, simply, one story. Subscribers are sent One Story in the mail, every three weeks. This story is guaranteed be an amazing read. Each issue is artfully designed, easy to carry, and ready to entertain on buses, in bed, in subways, in cars, in the park, in the bath...
The Logo The visual direction for the logo is that it reflect the aesthetics of the late 50s: traditional yet on the verge of change; more modern than not, refinement and restraint, but just bearly. To that end, the logo was designed as a type treatment, using a custom created typeface. Sans-serif with careful kerning, the type is meant to be witty and engaging, and provide the promise of an interesting read. While not completely retro, there is a nod to the 50s and 60s time period, as requested. Application For the business cards, the logo was expanded into an identity package. A traditional typeface, New Baskerville, was chosen as an dynamic contrast to the logotype. The reverse of the card has the logo, large scale, with a quote in a type treatment. For web site application, the logo is placed, in black, at the top of the layout. The site design takes it cue from the magazine, incorporating similar elements and expanding on the general design style created for the logo. Muted colors, line-drawn design elements, and subtle retro touches expand upon the logo design. ©2023 Matthew Fetchko |
